Ms. S - A Gift for Him (and Her!)

The COVID-19 pandemic gave everyone a new perspective on life. The same goes for Ms. S, who after a year of working from home in t-shirts and sweatpants, booked a boudoir shoot as a gift for her husband. She didn’t know what to expect going into it, but she can tell you — it was worth it in so many ways!

Q: Have you ever done a boudoir shoot before?

A: No, I have never done anything like this before!

Q: Why did you do your boudoir shoot?

A: I booked my boudoir shoot as a birthday gift for my husband. It is something I had always wanted to do “someday.” The pandemic has given us a new perspective on life and I felt like now was the time to do this for both of us. Especially after a year of ratty t-shirts and sweatpants. Carpe diem!

Q: What was your favorite part of the session?

A: My favorite part of the session was getting to play the model. I’m usually on the other side of the camera and it was a great experience to be the subject.

Q: What did doing this shoot do for your self-confidence, self-worth, and self-image?

A: Doing this shoot was such a boost of self-confidence! I usually see myself as the nerd, the geek, the nice girl - not the beautiful or sexy one. Always the sidekick, never the star. It was so amazing to be able to see this other side of myself.

Q: Was your experience what you were expecting?

A: I really didn’t know what to expect and the great thing was, that was just fine!

Ryan walked me through everything - from what to do to prepare, the types of outfits that would look best on my body type, and then where to stand and how to pose. I was hoping for a nice album for my husband and not to be too embarrassed. I got a fabulous album, a wonderful experience, and images we will treasure forever.

Q: What was the best part of your experience? Would you change anything?

A: It is so hard to choose - having my hair and makeup done and then the shoot itself was so much fun, but if I have to pick a favorite part it was probably the reveal. I had high hopes because the rest of Ryan’s work that I have seen is fabulous but seeing my photos were beyond my wildest expectations. Is that really ME? I wouldn’t change a thing!
